Description

Very Rare Antique TAINTORS POSITIVE No. 7 Saw Set Tool. Made in New York by Taintor MFG. Co. Five patent dates on the handle with the last being July 30, 1907. The Taintor MFG. Co. was the manufacturer of the Taintor positive saw sets. This one is the No. 7. The anvil has 10 numbered sides / settings, and three sections, F, M & C for fine, medium and coarse. The anvil turns easily by loosening the thumb screw. The Taintor Positive Saw Set No. 7 consists of a steel frame with two movable handles that open with a spring between them, an anvil and a punch. The spring ends extend through the handle as shown. The one handle clamps the saw against the lower side of the anvil. The other handle moves the punch which forces the tooth of the saw against the face of the anvil. This tool is very similar in design as the No. 7 1/2. Nice tool. Can be cleaned further if you want. Just gave a lot a quick clean. Thanks. See pictures for details.
