VERY RARE Vtg 1933-1938 PLUMB VOYAGER Boy Scouts of America BSA Axe, Orig Handle You are bidding on one of the RAREST! PLUMB B.S.A. (BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA) axe/hatchets that PLUMB ever manufactured. This small axe/hatchet still has the original handle with the original "OFFICIAL VOYAGEUR AXE" stamping on the handle (see pics). The eye of the axe even still has the original PLUMB "TAKE-UP" screw wedge in it (see pics). The axe head still has the original factory ground cutting edge on it (see pics). In other words this little beauty of an axe head has never been sharped after it left the factory 86 + years ago. The cutting edge does have a very tiny chip on it near the heal of the bit (see pics). The poll end does have some hammer marks on it, along with some slight amount of mushrooming too (see pics). The makers mark: "PLUMB" and the B.S.A. "Fleur-De-Lis" are super crisp, clear and deep (see pics). There's even a little bit of the original BLACK paint on the axe head too (see pics). The axe head is securely mounted to the original hickory handle, not loose at all. There's about a 1-1/2" long piece of wood missing on the handle just under the front of the axe head, that looks like it was caused by an overstrike when it was being used at some point in time (see pics). Other than that, and a black spot of paint or something like that on the bottom part of the handle, the original hickory handle looks GREAT!! (see pics). There's some minor scrapes, scratches and ding marks on the axe head and the handle (see pics). I believe that the leather sheath is original to the axe. The sheath fits the small axe head perfectly! But the snap does not have the B.S.A. symbol on it (see pics). As you can see the sheath is in kinda poor condition, but the snap still works as it should (see all pics). The axe has a total weight of 1 pound 2.2 oz. The axe is 11" long. The axe head is 4-1/4" long, with a 2-1/2" wide cutting edge.
