Description
This is a rare vintage surgeon's folding bistoury scalpel medical instrument. The knife has a curved back with blunt tip blade made of steel with a plain edge. The handle appears to be made of bone, horn or celluloid. The knife is manually opened and has a frame lock type. It is a one-bladed knife. The blade is approximately 2 1/4" in length and the entire scalpel when opened is approximately 6 1/2". It is about 4" long when closed. The knife is ivory in color and has a vintage design that appears to date back to the late 1800s to early 1900s? The blade is marked S. Shaw. This is a unique collectible item that would make a great addition to any collection.
