Description

Rare, antique Pratt & Whitney No. 1, I-5 Ratchet Wrench - Hartford, CT. Used in the field to drill holes in boilers, etc. It is marked: P.&W., CONN. U.S.A. HFD, No. 1, I-5. Unusual small size at 9-1/2 inches in length. The handle has some pitting, and there is discoloration from age. It has been cleaned to remove some grime and bits of rust. The piece is selling as is. The pointed end screws out 1 1/2". I understand when a bit is installed and you ratchet it, the pointed end (w hich would be placed against a solid surface) will continue to unscrew to keep constant pressure on the drill bit. The type of bit is unknown to me but the opening looks to be 7/16" square. When you remove the threaded pointed end the inside looks to be about 3/8" round. Weight is approximately 18 oz. It worked smoothly in my tests. Please see pictures for additional information as they are a part of the description. Don't hesitate to request more details. Thank you for taking a look! Note: No international shipments.
