From my plumb bob collection - Here we have a RARE SUPERB Antique A. L. THOMPSON, LOWELL, MASS. No. 8 Brass Plumb Bob, 4.75" L, 14.5 oz. Bob is fully identified with “8 A. L. THOMPSON M ’ F ’ G ’ R ’. LOWELL, MASS. ” The bob is in SUPERB 'used tool' condition with beautiful aged patina and a smooth finish . It has his classic peaked cap with knurled edge. It is removeable for threading your string. The bob has a steel point that is n great condition. The bob has a diameter of approx. 1-1/2" at its widest point. No owner's marks. This is one of the Rarest maker marked bobs. Thompson bobs are in high demand by collectors, especially those examples that are in this SUPERB condition !!
