Description

This is a professionally restored early Stanley # 40 Scrub Plane. It has STANLEY, and No. 40 cast in base. Perfect original tote and knob that have been hand polished and wax protected to make it pleasing to the hand when in use. Body and cap iron have been re-Japanned. Brass screw heads are polished as well as cap iron screw and cross bar. The iron has been replaced with a super rare Peugeot Freres iron. Peugeot Freres is a French company that has been making precision edged instruments, among other things, since 1810 and still does 200 years later. The iron has the lion logo plus PEUGEOT FRERES stamped in it. The plane has been returned to near mint condition, and will make an excellent collector's show piece, collection addition, investment, display, or shop tool. You have to use this plane to experience the amazing sharpness of this iron. I did nothing to it except clean it. The rare iron alone is worth more than the plane. Jim S
