Description
Antique RARE UNUSUAL M.T. CO 1" Tempered Rule Scale M.T.Co., Mass Tool Co. are the Massachusetts Tool Company made by Goodell-Pratt. It was their division for making their machinist tools. According to Ken Cope's book Makers of American Machinist's Tools, GOODELL-PRATT CO formed MASSACHUSETTS TOOL CO in 1900 as a captive company to produce a wide variety of machinist's tools. The early products, rules and adjustable notch center gauges, were from the purchase of COFFIN & LEIGHTON in 1901 and micrometers from the purchase of LAVIGNE MICROMETER CO around the same time. Shortly before 1920, GOODELL-PRATT CO closed the company down but continued to make the same tools under the MASSACHUSETTS TOOL CO name and later under the GOODELL-PRATT name.
