This listing is for one (1) Antique Germantown Flooring Hatchet The hatchet is single-beveled and has a 4" Cut The ""Germantown" name is engraved across the hatchet in cursive script The wooden handle is approximately 12" to the bottom of the hatchet head and is engraved with "647" The distance from the bottom of the handle to the top of the hatchet head is approximately 14" The hatchet with the handle weighs approximtely 2 lb 4.5oz I found what looks to be this item in the Germantown Toolworks Catalogue #12, which was posted online. Based on this, the hatchet appears to be circa 1912 Appears, based on catalogue, that the hatchet was made with warranted solid tool steel, fire-bronzed Appears to be a unique and somewhat rare item The hatchet is used in antique condition. There is some rust and patina on the head. There are marks, scuffs and nicks on handle Hatchet head seems solidly set on handle Needs to be cleaned and sharpened Estate find from a dry, smoke and pet/pest-free location (original owner was a carpenter from PA and this tool moved to CO with him in the mid-1950s) See pictures for details of actual item listed in this auction
