Description

From the estate of a collector, for your consideration, a difficult to find diminutive 4" Birmingham Plane Mfg. Co Pocket Plane made between 1885-1900. This little plane has been well cared for but shows the evidence of use as it was intended. Condition issues: 1.Japan finish mostly rubbed off where years of thumb, finger, and palm of hand held it to use. Please refer to photos, I would describe the inside bed maintains approx 75% of finish,. The finish on the sides and tail and cap has been rubbed down to about 30-40% of Japan finish remaining. 2. At some point in its history an owner stamped his initials into left side. 3. The blade has no maker mark. The plane shows no rust, no pitting, no breakage or repairs.
